Desperate to cheer us all up, home accessories designers are still peddling the caravan holiday aesthetic with fabrics in deckchair stripes, bunting, vintage tinware and polkadot cakestands in stick-of-rock pinks and deafening yellows. Scout struggles with this inaccurate nostalgia - who ever took a cake-stand camping? Who ever even took a cake camping? It was Penguins all the way.
That said, loving the bare styling and muted colours of Snowden Flood's holiday mugs. London-based Snowden celebrates urban and rural landscapes through an exploration of the theme of souvenirs and keepsakes. Her River Series builds on a 200 year old tradition of printing buildings onto plates so voila! It's also great to have a set of tableware that works together but isn't all boringly the same. Find them in Liberty.
